A Musical Presentation (Folk Dance Program) The films "Never on Sunday" and "Zorba the Greek" introduced the Greek
dance to moviegoers of the silver screen, but most visitors to the Greek Festival may not realize that the dance today has retained
much of its identity from ancient times, as has the Greek language. It is a living vital force in the Greek way of life, and its
spirit brings people together with a true feeling of camaraderie. It's a fundamental aspect of the Greek religious festivities, national
holidays, and family celebrations such as weddings and baptisms - events that center around the church life of Orthodox parishioners.
Basically, the dances are divided into three main groups, and each dance reflects the culture, customs and traditional costumes of the
particular region. A dance is either from the islands (nessiotika); the mainland (demotika); or popular (laika), meaning it is danced
throughout Greece - the islands and the mainland.
We hope you enjoy the special story line "theme" which will introduce you to some of our beautiful Greek dancers.
Greek Musician (Near West Dining Area) Live Greek music provided by "The Golden Greek," Mr. Alex Kalos. Come practice or learn Greek dancing!
